Edge Experience is partnered with SPaRTA Solutions (RTO Code 40836), enabling us to deliver recognised competencies in abseiling, rock climbing, remote area first aid and wilderness survival.
We deliver these competencies to leaders working for outdoor education or adventure providers, volunteer groups, not-for-profit organisations, government agencies or individuals simply aspiring to guide their own recreational abseiling trips safely.

Introductory Abseiling Experience

A ½ or full day experience introducing participants to the exciting world of vertical abseiling in the beautiful Port Macquarie hinterland.

We begin by cutting your teeth on a 2 metre boulder and, eventually progress to a full 20 metres of awesome rock face!
Morning tea, instruction, 4WD transfers and cliffside safety provided (transfers from Port Macquarie CBD subject to availability)
Family ‘mini-jump’ $370 (2 adults, 2 children)
Single ‘mini-jump’ $100
Minimum age 10
Tours run regularly, subject to minimum numbers

Full Day Abseil

Full fun packed day, starting with the 2 metre nursery boulder and progressing to 54 metres, a whopping 18 stories by days end!
Includes complimentary 4WD transport from Port CBD to site, all safety equipment and instruction, morning and afternoon tea (BYO lunch).
$185 per person $350 per couple Tours run regularly, subject to minimum numbers

Abseiling Leadership Skills Program

Day 1

A full day experience introducing participants to the exciting vertical world of abseiling. Participants will learn the principles and practice abseiling in progressive stages under the direct supervision and safe guarding of experienced and qualified guides. Full day tours include all safety equipment, guide and instruction.

Day 2

A full and intensive day where prospective trip leaders aspiring to coordinate their own recreational abseiling trips can come and learn trip planning, how to select and establish improvised and ‘bombproof anchor systems’, sustainable abseiling practices.

Day 3

A full and intensive day focuses on the application of planning skills to make suitable arrangements to guide a group through an abseiling activity. The program is aligned with recognised competencies including guide abseiling on single pitch natural surfaces and establish ropes for single pitch abseiling on natural surfaces.

Day 4

Single rope technique - will teach participants how to safe guard an abseiler (top + bottom belay), self-belay, self-rescue, improvised rope rescue and practice leadership skills that will make participants more confident, competent and resilient abseiling trip Leaders or soloists.

Single Rope Rescue Technique

This course is a 2-3 day program expanding on participants existing knowledge and skill set. The course includes the construction of more complex 3:1 ‘Z pulley’ systems and patient packaging as well as various self, remote and mid-pitch rescue. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn and practice a mid-pitch rescue and practice leadership skills making them more resilient abseiling trip leaders or soloists.

School of Rock - Rock climbing right on Nobby's Beach in Port Macquare

The Edge "School of Rock" is a unique and challenging experience conducted right on beautiful Nobby's Beach. This unique and quiet climbing crag boasts easy access and a spectacular setting in the heart of Port Macquarie. The School of Rock experience is designed for adventurous children and teenagers (ideal ages 5yo - 12yo) who would like to try their hand at real rock. This program is perfect for families, special interest groups and schools who can provide reliable and competent adult supervision. "School of Rock" is conducted during school and public holiday periods or on demand subject to minimum numbers.

1 hour individual climb $35 per person

About Us

Edge Experience (Edge) was founded in 1998 by Port Macquarie local Sam Dalton. Sam is no stranger to the outdoors having worked in the busy family business conducting guided horse rides and bush tucker tours into the local State Forests and Conservation Areas from the age of 12.
Sam’s love of all things rock climbing, rope and rescue has led to a successful career with his Registered Training Organisation SPARTA Solutions, which is partnered with Edge Experience.
Nowadays, Edge Experience is run by Sam and his wife Melinda, continuing the tradition of a safe family run adventure business in the Hastings. Edge Experience runs regular ‘school of rock’ programs for kids, schools and budding gym climbers wanting to progress to outdoor rock climbing as well as a suite of abseiling experiences and courses from introductory (beginner) to leaders (advanced) and vertical rescue.
